Correct way to mount leather sling on Enfield?

OK, does the lace go on the barrel band swivel or on the butt swivel?

    Thumbs up

If you're referring to the leather sling found on No.4(T) sniper rifles, there's an entry in the England Section (click here) of the MKLicon (Milsurp Knowledge Libraryicon), showing how to install the 1907 on a No.4(T).

The lace end goes on the butt swivel with the short tab on the inside. The slider goes on the sling up by the lower barrel band. Its purpose is to lock the sling so it does not loosen up. It does work, but not too well.
This was meant to be a secondary sling and was issued to rear area troops and the home guard. Not considered to be combat issue. The leather did not last very long the conditions found in the trenches.
