    .38 S&W Ammo for my Enfiled

    Hi;

    I'm searching for some S&W .38 Ammo to fire out of my Enfield. Its getting hard to find this stuff. Anyone in Canadaicon/ Northern NY state that knows where I can find it ? Cabela's in Ottawa used to carry it, but I'm not sure the have it this year.

    thanks;

    If you check the web site FirearmsCanada.com firearms dealers, gun manufacurers, gun clubs, gun shows, hunting information in Canada, Famars Excalibur 12 and let your computer do the walking there are lots of dealers that stock that sort of thing. I don't understand why you don't just get into reloading that cartridge and end your pain?

    Jim;

    Haven't fired it in nearly 15 years or so. So, I thought I'd start with some factory stuff. I managed to get two boxes of S&W .38 here in Ottawa. Pricey, but really all I need for now. I recently got my RPAL, so, I'll be able to legally take it out for some practice sometime in the spring time.

    thanks for the reply'

    38 S&W Lee loader

    I have a bunch of 38 S&W fired brass and a Lee hand Loader if you're interested in a simple start for reloading.

    I started with the 38 and changed the gun over to a 38.Spl cartridge so I don't need this stuff any more.

    I wasn't really happy with the way the sizing die worked, A few cases had a bulge that prevented putting back in the cylinder. Lee company said it was an oversize cylinder chamber problem. I vaguely remember they sent me a new die anyway, because I didn't agree with them. Not sure I ever used it after that. (happened back in 1968)

    That's a good idea Phil, you should maybe look at taking Stockerphil up on it. Those loaders are easy to use and UN-complicated. Just right for not getting in over your head.

    reloading 38 S&W

    I have converted some Italianicon black powder revolvers to use cartridges and the only cylinders available at the time were chambered for 38 S&W. I found some RCBS loading dies at a gunshow and have been loading this cartridge for some years now. It is a very easy cartridge to reload, most of the time I use Unique powder.

    One of my conversions is in the photo, grips were from Tombstone grips, 1851 converted to cartridge - excellent balanceAttachment 19896
