Hello all,
I stumbled on this 1943(T) at a local gunshow two weeks ago. I was there buying reloading components, as some of the dealers wont charge tax on a cash deal. As I was about to leave, I spied this No4T on a dealers' rack. He wasn't asking very much, and I paid $550 for it. But being California, I had to do the background check and pay for a DROS, so that added $40 to the overall cost. Either way, I thought it was cheap. Seems like everyone was buying AR15's and bulk ammo, so the milsurps were being neglected.
Anyway, just picked it up today, and I spent the afternoon cleaning the cat hair, dust, and lint out of the it. Posted some pics, and as I've read on this forum, 1943 BSA's are marked very inconsistently. This one has the "s" stamp on the right side. I found a D6E mark under the barrel just forward of the index mark. The "T" is small, I think it's 1/16 inch.
The butt has been switched out, but it appears to be wearing its original forearm.
