'French' 98k stock channel markings...unusual!
A few days ago I posted pics of my 243 coded 98k..took it to the range today ( great shooter ) and broke it down to clean it. As a forum member here pointed out, it definitely seems to be a French
post war Mauser. Check out the stamps in the stock channel....number matched to the rifle, the word 'Timber' ( or Limber? ) and what appears to be a logo of some sort.
Also, the serial number is electro penciled on almost all the small metal parts. Can't get a clear shot of those, unfortunately. Anyone ever seen these stock channel stamps, because I sure haven't. Would love to know more about them!

That logo looks just like an American Indian head. Hmmmmmm???

The maker's name is ZIMBER.

The above is merely to illustrate that the name does indeed exist. I have no evidence (yet!) that this is the company that made the stock. But the name is uncommon...
Take a close look at the "Indian head". I think that the "crest" is actually curved lettering. Look at various angles and see if you can make anything out, or take a real macro photo and post it here.

I did see what looked like letters too but, enlarging the photo was futile.

1. The links work for me, so try again at home, as you intended.
2. If they still don't work, search for "adolf zimber holz"
3. Try looking at the "indian" the other way around. Although the orientation in the photo could be correct, as it is the same as for "Zimber".

Yeah, I tried that too. It's not so much a question of enlargement, but rather of moving the light source around to get an angle where the brain "clicks" on the shadows of the imprint and recognizes something.

Yes, I am home and looked at the links. Too bad something useful doesn't jump out at you. Like, say, a picture of that logo.
