Thanks Rick, one of the other members PM'ed me essentially what you said. Even though I have been a member here for years, I rarely visited because my 11 year old computer loads this forum very slowly for some reason. So, I wasn't aware of the situation with Amsdorf.

I may have provided the inspiration for Amsdorf's Garandicon thumb video due to my postings on this very same subject over at Joustericon and CMPicon forums some months back. I say that because I haven't seen the 'Garand loading doesn't crush the thumb' subject brought up by anyone other than me. Amsdorf is the only one who can confirm this though.

I will have to say that this particular video is accurate from my experience with this subject. I have actually put my thumb in harms way attempting to disprove my own discovery. My thumb is still in good health after many tries.

I can see that we should add the 'thumb issue' to the 'shouldn't discuss politics or religion if you want to remain friends' phrase. So I'll end it here and say to each his own about this, let experience be everyone's guide.
