Many thanks Simon, I bought it from a dealer who obtained 3 from auction said to have come from RAF, not sure what that means as regards being stored Donnington since 1972 I guess your records would't show issue to units from there, read somewhere that target rifles were signed out by units because they could get extra ammunition under the guise of competition shooting but the rifles were seldom used which is great as I appear to have a rifle with little use. Fascinating to research the more I look the more I learn about the good old Lee Enfield.
    Cheers

    Mozely,

Donnington was and still is for want of a better description a base store where 99% of the completed weapons, L42's included where sent before being sent out to the respective units. Unfortunately my records only go up to sending out to Donnington.

    Cheers,

    Simon.

I have been compiling a 'where are they now' list for several years & I note that 128 was for sale by an RFD in Warwickshire in 2009 - did you purchase it from him ?
I'd also be grateful if you could let me know what scope it has on it, is the scope numbered to the rifle, does it have a bipod and any other 'special' features.
    Thanks
    Alan
Mine are not the best, but they are not too bad. I can think of lots of Enfields I'd rather have but instead of constantly striving for more, sometimes it's good to be satisfied with what one has...

I have owned Enforcer No. 476 for 20 years, any info would be great, I bought her from Practical Weaponry in Stoke in the eighties, they told me that it came from Staffordshire Police, the rifle has numbered bolt, mag and Pecar scope.
