Aquired this week a BSA 22 training rifle. Always wanted one of these and now looking for any info you may have in your vast experience base. will post pics soon but for the time being the following info is for your comments.
Markings on left of the receiver are '3, Crown over a K, & 48.
Right side markings are crown over GR, BSACo, 1917, & IV*.
SN's on receiver, bolt & endcap match 5887, Bolt has 22 no. 2 on it.
Bolt also has an X or crossed swords, crown, & broadarrow stamps on handle.
Left side of receiver has BNP under a crown & X or crossed swords over an E.
Stock has an E on the pistol grip & a brass insert with 22LR7 and a broad arrow.
Sight has a broad arrow on left side over a crown & over a 3.
Trigger gaurd marked SSA. Have not removed the wood.
There are more markings under rear handgaurd section I cannot read on both sides of the barrel.
There is a big green 2 or ZF painted on both sides of the stock.
Buttplate is brass.
Barrel is rounded crowned and looks to be not lined
Thanks in advance.
