One thing I missed when buying mine was,, Look down the stock from the rear to insure it isn't warped. Mine is but I got lucky, I'm a righty and it tucks nicely into my shoulder..

Edit> CAI import.? Russian Capture for sure..
How does one identify an RC? I was thinking there'd be an x on the receiver. I didn't notice one. Will have to go back to the store and check.

It doesn't look like shellac. At least not the red shellac that's on my 91/30. This is more like Birchwood Casey's. Heavy, transparent kind of finish.

Seems evenly phosphated, rather than reblued or painted, like I read some RC's are. Any thoughts on that?

They're asking $400. So I guess it's not completely out of line.

I mostly worried about the quality issues.

But not in any rush. I have a reasonably nice M48 as it is. It just happened to be on the rack and thought I should do some research.

The thing that has me baffled is how such a late year gun isn't in a kreigsmodel (spelling?) stock without a bolt disassembly ring. Now I'm wondering if it is a mixmaster.
