1919 semi built vs full auto
Can someone with knowledge of the difference between semi built only and full auto 1919s explain the differences in receivers and parts. Looking more to the .308 versions. Im a total noob at this point on them and interested in building a semi version legal under Canadian
law.
Thanks,
Andy

We had a couple of Canadian
7.62mm versions of the good old M1919 and to be really honest, they just didn't have the whooooomph to function reliably as machine guns. I stopped down the .718" (?) muzzle aperture in reducing stages to try to get it to act as a more efficient recoil booster but it didn't really make much difference. It was a case of diminishing returns in effect.
I did speak to a couple of the Enfield design team who did our .300" rear sear L3 guns and they said that the original intention was to convert ours to 7.62mm at the same time but couldn't quite get to grips with it. So left them at .300" where they worked best.

You're right Peter, we turtled along with them and the whole time I couldn't understand why we didn't have the MAG...
Now to the OP's question, I know what we did to the ex autos to make them converted to semi in Canada
, but I'm not sure what was done when they made them semi auto from the factory. And that's what you're asking, right? Or because you're in Canada, do you want to know what we did to convert them?

Thanks guys, yes I need to know the difference between the full auto right receiver and a semi auto only right receiver. Also are the internals different semi vs full or is it just the right receiver plates.

Actually I have a chance to buy a kit that contains a semi auto only right receiver, that was registered with the CFC as non restricted, previous to the deletion of the long gun registry. So Im trying to get all the info i can. All the parts are .308 I believe.

If you have the body, that's the worst of it. The problem here could be the internals. Most of them will be the same but I think the lock frame will differ greatly. Barrel and extension should be spot on and cover group. The bolt should be the same but the sear I believe has been altered. Warren on here will have a grasp I should think...and because he's in Canada
too it might be worth messaging him and pick his brain. It's sometimes hard to get his attention because he's busy. Just keep trying...

Lots of how to information here - 1919a4.com Forums
Look for an Israeli 1919a4 parts kit. They are 7.62/.308 and some of the semi's I have seen worked well.
Be very careful when working with the recoil spring guide rod. The spring is quite powerful and will launch the rod will a lot of force. There's a thread on that forum about a guy who lost an eye.

Here the bolt, lock frame assembly, barrel extension, trigger, sear, etc, have to be modified or replaced.
I bought a complete semi kit like this a few years ago - Complete Semi-Auto Parts Kit, 1919A4 - Semi Auto - 1919A4 Parts - Parts
Recently found a deal on a spade grip assembly like this - 1919A4 Spade Grip Assembly - Semi Auto - 1919A4 Parts - Parts
