no1 MkIII* sporter by PH

Hi, I add this beautiful supreme no1 MkIII* conversion by Parker Hale to go beside my custom no4 and the no1 has some interesting stamps on the reciever. the NZ probably stand for New Zeland but Im not sure the DP in the right side refer to drill purpose since Parker Hale select the best lee enfields for the conversion job Am I right ?

where are you seeing parker hale on it besides the butt plate.
is there any PH markings on the metal. look to me like some one prettied up a DP rifle and stuck it in a sporter stock with a PH butt plate

Anyone else going to offer any comment on the too-crisp-and-clean-to-be-true markings on the right butt socket? I know others might have other ideas but an unsupported, thin No1 barrel like that will be whipping around like a bulldogs balls when it's fired. Not good for accuracy of any sort.......

@Peter Laidler. Sorry my bad english, I am not sure I understand what you are saying ?
That rifle came from a friend who reload and he used to hunt with this 303 and developped a load that does less than a 1'' at 100y Rifling is still crisp and he never had any issue shoot with it.

Still try to figure why PH would convert an enfield using one with a Drill purpose stamps on it..

I have a low end PH conversion of a No.1 MkIII, basically just a cutting down of the wood work and addition of sling swivels and the metal is marked in several places with PH. I agree this is a DP that someone has dropped into sporter stock. Possibly a PH bit of wood but it didn't come from PH with that barrel and action.

Would you mind to post some pics of your no.1 PH conversion so I can see and make a better comparison.

there are enough ph markings on there to convince me that it was worked on by parker hale especially with the soldered on front ramp saying parker hale. I have looked over quite a few of these over the years and I do not believe all had a ph stamp on the barrel. The only ones I have seen marked parker hale on the barrel for sure are the custom 1 and custom 4,I think this is because the customs were re barreled by ph, the others like supreme and deluxe had the original barrel cut, re blued/polished and a front ramp added, either with screws or solder, I don't believe the supreme or deluxe models nessesarily have PH markings.

I'm not sure if this helps the discussion any but here's a No.1 "Custom" with a PH scope mount and the wrong magazine which should be a flush-fit unit. Proof date 1963. The stock was made by Sile and the barrel is military. Commercial barrels are identifiable by the lack of a flat on top of the knox form.

these sight ramps and other parker hale parts were available to any one who wanted to purchase them. so just because the sight has parkerhale on it just means they made the sight. I had 2 new PH sight ramps in my parts box along with several other PH marked parts that I acquired from a gunsmith in Sydney NSW in 1991.

I don't believe the supreme or deluxe models nessesarily have PH markings.

I have only had 2 PH built rifles one a No4 and the other a TX1200 and they both had PH stamps on them

Thought only custom no4 comes with new PH barrel from what Ive read from PH catalogue but probably you are right as I have just a little knowledge about these 303 sporters.
