A good one does shoot very well, but lacks the "wallop" of the Swede. Essentially a rimmed 6.5 x 54 Mannlicher Schoenauer; still a nice cartridge, and yes, you can pull down .303 brass to make the cases.
Clips are a bit harder to find, though, unless you are fighting a small war, half a dozen is probably enough. There are a couple of the Dutch carbines in collections here in Brisbane; apparently came out of Indonesia and look MUCH more "lived-in" than the rifle pictured above.

That's the nicest Hembrug rifle I have ever seen. It took me 30 years to find one similar condition to yours but not as nice. Mine does have the cleaning rod which so often are missing on the rifles
