    This is correct, it depends on which tip they have. The pointy tip is Steel core, the round tip is the NC (Nylon Core) which I believe is what the OP has.

    I wouldn't want to get hit by this stuff, the use of this ammo is debated, it may have been used for training, but I know it was given to East Germanicon border guards (yours is still packaged in the border guard packs.) to shoot anybody escaping or entering illegally. Very interesting history to this ammo. I would keep it, as they really aren't making more.

    It wasn't for sale at the LGS, it was just behind the counter maybe 4 or 5 rounds, nothing like a crate or anything.
