What is this Ammo?

This is pretty cool, as I saw a couple of those rounds at my LGS today and I was wondering what was up with it. I knew it was 7.62x39 but I was thrown off by the round nose.

If you don't want them, id pay you to buy them and ship them to me. If you want PM me. Ive been looking for some. There aren't any here in eastern Ontario.

This is correct, it depends on which tip they have. The pointy tip is Steel core, the round tip is the NC (Nylon Core) which I believe is what the OP has.

I wouldn't want to get hit by this stuff, the use of this ammo is debated, it may have been used for training, but I know it was given to East German border guards (yours is still packaged in the border guard packs.) to shoot anybody escaping or entering illegally. Very interesting history to this ammo. I would keep it, as they really aren't making more.

It wasn't for sale at the LGS, it was just behind the counter maybe 4 or 5 rounds, nothing like a crate or anything.
