    Ross Bayonet acquistion and question

Hello all...I've been lurking the forum for a while and I'm hoping some members can help me out understanding a recent piece I acquired.

I "think" it is an uncut mkII Ross bayonet which appears to have been made in 04/16. It has a scabbard marked MKII and dated 1941. Both bayonet and scabbard have the Canadianicon acceptance marks. The grip is marked 231.

    Couple of questions I have...
    1) is it a mk11?
    2) is the 231 a unit marking?
    3) why would it have a 1941 scabbard? I thought Ross rifles were no longer in service?

    Thanks for any assistance.
    Rucker
