And the answer was a very definitive NO. You also stated why you asked the question and your reason was also debunked as an error. I think you forget who you are talking to here, not me specifically, I'm just a hobbiest historian, but guys who work or have worked as armorers in the Britishicon and Canadianicon military and would know if something such as that were done. This is not their OPINIONS, they know.

I haven't said that they are wrong but I am not going to say that Frederick is wrong until I know the reason for him stating that Ross bayonets were used with Thompsons. We are not talking about any sort of official use or approval here so how you can be so very sure of yourself I have no idea. I repeat that I consulted a well respected bayonet expert who I just happen to know who said "never say never".

Actually we are. I don't think anyone here cares if someone tried this in an unofficial manner because no one here cares about unofficial bubba jobs. This has been pointed out at least 3 times now. If it wasn't done officially, it never happened. I could today take out my Thompson and one of my Ross bayonets and ruin both making the bayonet fit on the rifle and no one here would care. I think they would be disgusted that I ruined a nice rifle and a nice bayonet but that would be the extent of it. No one is going to include it in a bayonet book.

Two incompetent authors that didn't sufficiently verify their sources. I won't be buying their books so thanks at least for pointing out who they are.

This topic has reached the point where it's really time to drop it. I don't remember what the subject matter was, but a while back we had the same type of deadlock where flying10uk couldn't see his way clear to listen to reason. I think he enjoys the argument. Everyone should stop banging their heads against the wall, it's really not worth it. He's wrong and refuses to listen. Stop wasting your time.

You're absolutely right. It ain't the first time either, not by a long shot. It raises his useless post count though.

Remember the non stop argument that a rifle bullet would stop a tank - or stop the turret turning - whatever it was. And he's telling the actual tank crews here that it could. And then there was the............... And now it's TWO books (thread 54)

Guys, can't we all just remain friends. We are all here because of a love of Milsurps, no need to start infighting over nothing.

Everyone has said there piece, can we just let it die without the ad hominem attacks? Some people accuse this site of sometimes being a hostile environment dominated by a few, please don't prove them right.
