The Stoner 63 belt fed machine gun was the first use of the metal push through links with 5,56mm cartridges. the Stoner 63 link is a little different from the M27 link (as used in the M249 SAW) and will not always operate reliably in a Stoner because of a difference in pitch)

Manual shows that an attempt was made to interest the military in adoption of the Stoner System.

The short barreled M60's in the SEAL photo are 558 mm (22 inches) while the issue M60 barrel is 647 mm - also notice the front sight is not installed
