I didn't criticize anyone. I simply related an experience that happened to me when I went looking for a 1/2" x 28 threading die years ago... Don't know how you came to this conclusion...
The people sending it aren't gun people. They don't likely know it's for gun stuff.
Now I expect you to publicly apologize for your attack...here.

They kept trying to correct me
I assumed that you referring to me correcting Peter's incorrect identification of the wrong tap that was sent to the O.P. and partly because you posted your post directly after my post, with the information about the correct tap. If you were referring to the people who sent the incorrect tap to the O.P., Jim, and not me then I apologise to you.

There was a special/unique thread system used on some British

It's worth paying that little bit extra for High Speed Steel taps and dies, which will be marked as HSS on the tool, rather than the cheaper carbon steel taps and dies which don't last as long.

Yep its known as the cycle thread BSC or BSCy used on push Bikes and British Motorbikes (obsolete now on Motorbikes), but still used on push bikes today, for example the pedal crank assembly , or anyone my age and older the threaded bearing cup...... the difference was the fine thread and the angle being 60 degree same as the ISO Metric, instead of the BSW & BSF 55 degree.

Thanks, bigduke, I wasn't sure if it was the same as cycle thread.

I sure didn't pay monetarily but am paying now.... this one is HSS which lead me to the purchase, but I'll try a couple local bike restoreres.
Brian, to save me future headache and a little time, would you be willing to part with a tap?
