I think it depends on what kind of gun stuff you deal in.
I have over 300 transactions for reloading tools on ebay so most of my transactions are for some sort of gun related stuff.
I have also bought knives and car engines on ebay.
I have never had ebay object to any transactions.
I have also paid for a number of transactions involving reloading components like brass and bullets and so far I have escaped their attention.
I am not sure how paypal establishes what is permitted and what is forbidden but as long as you are buying stuff from ebay I don't think they have room to complain.

They make it pretty clear in their terms of use.
And I’m a seller, not a buyer. The stuff that got me banished was likely stuff I sold on GunBroker.

Trouble is things get difficult when you start trying to define exactly what "Gun related" items actually mean. Would one define a sling or canvas gun slip as being gun related? One could say that a book about a certain aspect of guns was "guns related".

For what it's worth. An 1889 Officers model Bodeo was listed three successive times on ebay. The seller had no previous transactions as a seller or buyer so I was not interested, never mind ebays/paypals firearms policy. The revolver apparently sold on the third listing April third. Within the last year or so I saw a broken but fixable Spanish Ruby type pistol also sold on ebay. Apparently the monitors are not 100% efficient. On a related note, after 2020 ebay will be breaking with paypal and will use Amsterdam based company Adyen as their services provider. Anyone know anything about Adyen? Tom.

I assume parts are not an issue because I buy and pay for them with Paypal all the time with no issues.

Yes, they’re calling it “Managed Payments,” and are trialing it. I’m trying to be in that trial so I can continue selling on eBay. Most of my stuff will be right at home on gunbroker but I sell some things that wouldn’t.
eBay has already discontinued support of other credit card processors. Currently, for the average joe without PayPal, you cannot sell on eBay.

I replaced both my RRA "black gun" stocks awhile back. E-Bay couldn't tell me why they booted my factory AR-15 stock. Yet, during the same auction period, were "OK-fine" with the factory stock from my AR-10. They are and always will be - clueless!

180 days? I see how government can get away with civil asset forfeiture but a private company holding your money that long to punish you seems a bit sketchy to say the least. Does not seem normal for a company to punish you without due process terms of use or no.

Hooked, while true with governmental entities, you sign up (or agree to updates to the original contract) for this, and so you end up playing by their rules. Like ebay for several years, until a better competitor can prove themselves, it is the venue. It is enough to make you look at other online fund handling services, google pay for example.
I thought though that when ebay sold off paypal, that you could discontinue paypal. It is a checked box that I have never unchecked when I sell, so I will look into it.
