I'm feeling very dispirited for the first time.

Don't. I had it and recovered with no medical treatment. A couple of weeks of misery and still a bit fatigued.
Not a pleasant experience even with no known co-morbidities. I would rather die free than survive as a slave. Exigent circumstances is no excuse to disregard the constitution.
Don't let them get you down.
