The enquiry was answered pretty much after 3 hours perhaps the O.P was hoping it was a heirloom from Hirohito The Living God and worth millions.

Ian of Forgotten Weapons did a Q&A once. The question was, basically, "what's the rifle?" Presumably it included a picture. He essentially said, "Even without looking at the picture, it's Japanese."

Pretty much any other firearm, foreign or domestic, will have something written in letters (or at worst, Cyrillic) that can be Googled. Japanese rifles with Kanji...not so much!
