Reproduction TP mount questions
Hello everyone.
Is there such a thing as reproduction Canadian
TP mounts? It would be a mission but I’d like to try recreate one of this rare no.4ts that had the Lyman alaskan mounted to it.
If not are there any blueprints of the mount available? Maybe I can get one machined and maybe build a few while I’m at it.
Thanks for your time,
Kov

I'm afraid I don't know of anything available currently, but there used to be. My late machinist made me up a small quantity of the bases (around a couple of dozen IIRC) & just three sets of the rings. This was many years ago, & I'm afraid they all sold long ago. I had the bases made when there was a small batch of original TP scopes & rings available for sale on the market via the late Pete Bloom. He picked them up in Belgium
, & I gather they had been salvaged when either Belgian or Dutch (I think it was the latter) TP rifles were being destroyed. I think someone else has also marketed bases more recently, but I cannot recall who it was. Maybe someone else may be able to help here....
PS.......I don't have drawings I'm sorry to say.

There was a chap in Italy
making and selling the base for the 32 TP but they turned out to be just a copy of the G & H and were the wrong angle and size
They would not fit the 32 TP rings and clamp.

Are you talking about this? https://www.cainarms.com/product/key...nser-foregrip/

Is there a big difference in Canadian TP?
You just inspired me. I have a few old unusable cut-back barrels I might have to turn in to TP holders now. A towel bar would be nice too.

Thanks for the the reply. It sounds like there is such a thing, or at least there was. Gives me a bit of hope of at least one day finding one. Too bad about not having drawings. If I get one of those mounts and rings, I’ll look at creating a CAD file or something like it to make it available for anyone to get machined.

I think it was the fellow in Italy
that I was thinking of......although I never had a look at any of his products. My late machinist worked from my original rifle. He was very much of the old school, making pencil sketches on odd bits of paper. I still have some of his notes that he made on reproducing Purdey mounts for the SMLE, but not the TP sketches that he made.

This could be another textbook case of myself taking things too far, but if any of you fine chaps actually own a no.32 TP mount that holds the Lyman alaskan on a Canadian
T, be it original or otherwise, be willing to help a brother out?
What I propose is to converse over pm or email. I’ll take an image of say, the mount and/or rings system, draw on the image dimensions “x-y-z”, someone could take measurements and simply answer x equals this, y equals this.
Hopefully I could end up at a place where I have drawings with all of the angles and dimensions I need to work with and produce it myself. If it’s successful, and mount works, I could get an auto cad file done up on it and share it freely to whoever is mad enough to pursue this like me.
No drama if not, but if anyone is willing help me out, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks again for your time,
Kov

If you can give it a few months (I mean like maybe June onwards) I should be able to get the measurements that you want. However, at present I have so many jobs that need attention that I dare not take on another. If somebody else offers help before then I'd go for it....
