After reading all the very helpful comments i decided to try some quick 'n' dirty tests on my Enfield. I'm no expert & my tests may actually mean sod all?
The pics are not great quality but hopefully good enough for you to get the picture?
Anyway I tried taking photos with my phone of the bore condition. The bullet is a .308 & I put a pencil mark where it could go no further & it mic'd to around .306/.307...as it was not on the parallel part of the bullet...this was the best I could get..
    cheers again
    John
