Old cartridges with paper bullets
My brother knows I have some US milsurp rifles, and he also likes flea markets and gun shows. He bought for me a few rounds of vintage cartridges with paper bullets. I vaguely recall reading how these types of rounds were made for training in indoor ranges back in the day but dont know much more than that.
Both he and I figured they were .30-06 rounds (on a clip for a M1903), but after considering the apparent date on the headstamp (FA 5 05) maybe not? Thoughts anyone on what I have?
And thoughts on how to get them into the hands of someone who might be interested in this sort of history?

Those are 30-03 gallery rounds made by Franklin Arsenal May 1905.

Some wooden Bren Gun 303 rounds I have used for training they had a splitter on the front of the gun to destroy the wooden projectile I believe.

That's absolutely correct Cinders. Apparently even a wooden bullet carried sufficient energy far enough to be dangerous to friendly troops or at least hurt like Heck.

Put them up in the WTS section of the forum and someone will contact you. If I was in USA
, I'd love to grab them. Can't though...

I'd grab one at least if it were possible. The clips of five would be desirable, probably expensive.

Thanks for the all comments folks.
For awareness one of our fellow milsurps members reached out and the 8 rounds are now in his hands for a nominal price…..to go with his M1903 that is still apparently chambered in the original .30-03
