Can't imagine putting anything on a high grade target rifle like that. Not sure it would be the most stable platform...minute of barndoor...

yes it is a shame, but i have seen it on a few of them now, .

It was not done by the US military. They did have the M3 sniper scopes on regular stocked carbines but not M1A1
's Can you post some photos of those stocks that have been modified?

I think you miss my smart a*s reply... As stated the military didn't do that because those are for parachutists not target shooting. No one in their right mind would scope one. For anything.

Not an SOE agent, it was a M1A1 supplied to Norwegian
Resistance during the war and modified by them by the fitting of a ZF-41 scope from a K98k
somehow to or through a hole in the top handguard.
This carbine was presented to Major General Sir Colin Gubbins after the war by members of the Norwegian Resistance and is now on display at the Imperial War Museum in London.
Just the thing for putting round holes in square heads.
