I have a Winchester carbine that my brother-in-law purchased from the CMPabout a year ago and I promised him I woud try to find some information about this carbine.
It is a Winchester service grade and has a Winchester barrel, receiver, bolt and the stock has a W in the sling well. The stock and handguard are numbered alike but not to the receiver. There are no cartouche's on the stock only the #'s 6663 inside the hand guard and in the sling well.
As stated in the title, this carbine has the nicest blue finish on it that I have ever seen.
The serial # 1182XXX is on the receiver but all the other parts including the trigger housing, slide, front sight, barrel band and the bolt all have the #1536 engraved on them.
The trigger housing is deeply stamped with the following: LGK OO #1536. The 00's have prick punches above them.
The receiver has the ordinance bomb logo stamped on it adjacent to the gas piston.
I know a picture is worth a thousand words but if you look at the time, it's dark out!
I will take pictures tomorrow so you can see what i mean about a nice blue job.
Any information you can provide will be gratefully appreciated.
