OOPS! Now What???
Had a little mishap with the elevation pinion ring on my M1A
. Can this part be found or do I need the whole pinion assembly? It came apart easily once the "c" clip was removed. Would a Garand elevation screw work? I have seen some that only go up to 8. What does the "M" stand for? All help is greatly appreciated.

M14
and M1 rifle are mostly interchangeable. The rear sights are an example. I don't know what the marking is but an M1 part will do until you get the correct one.

Why don't you just call up Springfield Armory and tell them it broke, the M1A
has a lifetime warranty so they should send you a free replacement.

BTW, the M means that the elevation adjustments are in meters instead of yards.

V Hunter,
Just got off the phone with SA. They are going to send a replacement for no charge. That's good customer service. Thanks for the heads up.
