    Jungle carbine re finishing Q?

This one isn't mine but I really like them in this coloration, has anyone tried to reproduce this and have any tips? I have a JC with brand new wood so I was thinking of copying this if I could. Thanks R

    No.5 wood

Doesn't it depend on the wood below?

I have attached a couple of pics of one of mine. When I got it, it had been varnished. Got rid of that and found that the wood underneath was protected and perfect. It was still dark in colour. I used some red mahogany woodstain for the initial colouring and then applied LO and then BLOicon. After that I rubbed in various colours of artists linseed oilicon paint with fine wire wool until the colour was right (for me).

When i got mine it was new (yes new) a blonde real light. Now with a little BLOicon, use and more use it is now a dirty blonde like that one RJW NZicon and i expect it to darken with more use and BLOicon

RJW my butt, well I should say my No5 butt is similiar it appears to be the beech?? that has been stained by the dirt impregnated cosmolineicon. Light sanding seems to bring this appearance out. I like it too. but can't get a match with my furniture, so a thinned stain is going to have to be applied.
