Reloading 303 British with 215 gr Woodleigh Bullets,

Does anyone have any experience reloading or pet loads that they would be willing to share for 215 gr. Woodleigh bullets ? There is no mention of 215 gr. loads in the books I have. I have found some reloading info on 303 British - 215 grain loads but one of the first things I saw was a typo on the OAL of the cartridge. Not a good start if you ask me. I would like to get another reference so I have a place to start. Thanks, Jack

The Australian ADI/Thales website {this is the mob who make Varget, here it's called AR2208} list a 215gr projectile with 36gr-39.5 of AR2208{Varget}.

Thanks for the tip, I think I'll give IMR4350 a try starting with 303 British - 215 grain loads load data. I have a can of IMR4350 on the shelf that I have had good results with in the past. Not much data on reloading 303 British with the 215 gr.

I have a commercial Ross in .303 that shoots into two inches at 100 yards (open sights) with between 39gr and 40gr of H380, Woodleigh 215gr with an OAL of 3.15". This length is about as long as my magazine will comfortably handle and it seats the bullet at almost precisely case neck length. In the middle of this range of powder charges it chronographs at 2000fps give or take. Regards Tom.

That's pretty darned good shooting. 39-40 gr. is close to max I'm thinking, yes/no ??? What would be your starting load ? Thanks, Jack

My old Lyman 45th Edition lists a 215 gr jacketed bullet in this caliber with a starting load of 40.0 gr of H-380, 2028fps,with a maximum load of 43.0 gr, at 2150fps. My rifle is more accurate at between 39 and 40 grains. Hopefully the thumbnail I attached is clear enough as it shows other potential loads. I used H-380 early on because like you with 4350 I had it on hand. Regards TomAttachment 30731

Have used old Dominion 215 Gr. bullets with 45.0 gr. IMR 4350 in the past with good results. Waters in "Pet Loads" suggests 46.0 gr. IMR 4350 as a good heavy load as well as the same charge weight in H & IMR 4831 and RL-19 with Remington bullets as giving good accuracy and velocities between 2100 - 2220 FPS. "Handloading" by the NRA (American) suggest a load of 49.5 Gr. of IMR 4350- 2430 FPS and a pressure of 44630 using the Remingtonn bullet, Remington cases and Winchester primers. Always thought that was a bit hotter than I would like.
