    Rear sight finish question

I have what appears to be an SA leaf that I built up using a mix of WW1 era parts and WW2 era Remington parts I'm using as part of a restoration of a 1920's SA receiver. It's meant to look like a 1940's RA rebuild.

Would a 1940's RA rebuild of an Sa-produced rifle have left the sight leaf parkerized, or would then have polished the leaf bright? Also would the rotating sight base have the range scale polished bright on a rebuild?

I do realize a mix of various vintage parts would be appropriate for any arsenal rebuild, I'm ore concerned with whether the scales were polished or left with finish applied.

I think it would be parked. Not 100%, but maybe the ball will get rollin'.

I know that the new-manufacture Remingtons in the 1942 timeframe got polished sight leaves, but I have no idea if this carried over to the parts they would have inspected, bead blasted, and re-parkerized when they rebuilt SA or RIA 1903s...?

where is Rick the Librarianicon or Chuckindenver when you need them?

If it's a rebuild, guess it could be either or. When you say "RA rebuild", do you mean Raritan Arsenal?

i would say. Blue if original. park if rebuild, Onida sights would be replacement, and parkerized, some with china white markings.

How do you know if it's an Onida sight? The two leaves I have available for this rifle are parkerized sight leaves I got "new in wrap" a few years ago, but I guess you are saying they would NOT have the flats polished to accent the parkerizing in the markings??
