Short Handguard

I got a really beat up 4 rivet handguard. And it seems to be to short. 8 3/8" over all and 8"
minus the lips? My stock I think is a later M1 converted to M2. Thanks for any help

Never mind ! that's the right length. I'm such an air-head sometimes. I have never taken an M1 apart and only held one in my hands for a couple seconds.
