My SQMS handed me a 1951 Canadian pattern Hi Power Holster today. It has resided at the back of a dusty cupboard for the last zillion years. We lost our L9A1 Pistols 4 years ago and have never had inglis Hi Powers. God knows where it originally came from.

The web HP holster I used in Viet Nam doesn't look like any of those shown on your post.
I quit using it and went to a leather GI 45 holster when the rainy season started.

Maybe because the article covers "Web Holsters for the Canadian Browning Pistol, 1943-1953" and not the Belgian P-35 or holsters used by US forces in South-East Asia.

Since the HP was only used by SF in RVN and as far as I know was carried in the M1911 holster - at least I never saw or heard of any other holster being available, I supplied my own holster -the last part of you comment doesn't apply! Also since the holster I used IS a Canadian holster - see previous comment posted above - it makes No difference which HP we are talking about!

I believe the holster you reference while Canadian is manufactured post 1953.

Actually, US 5th Special Forces Group, MACV-SOG, and the CIA had access to BHPs in Vietnam. The CIA reportedly made an bulk purchase from FN so that the had some 'un-traceable' pistols on hand for cross-border Ops etc.

Then of course, Australian and NZ forces had them on issue, and our webbing holster was identical to the one pictured earlier.

Yep, that is the holster I had.
I moved the lower part of the flap lock down a bit to better secure the HP in the holster. I've got 3 jumps incountry carrying my HP in that holster.
Good all round holster except not worth a damm in the rainy season.
