Barrel for retro build? Lowers?
Just bought a USGI Colt M16A1 upper for a retro build, and I now need a barrel and front sight. As of current, where can I get a correct (or at least correct looking) barrel with sight, to finish this build?
Also, besides NODAK, does anyone else sell a repro retro lower?

Currently, no one besides Nodak does retro lowers. A year or so ago, another outfit did a small run, but they were sold out before they even finished. Since my retro is with a late export upper that is dark grey (almost black), I used a black A2 Anderson lower on mine for now. As for barrels, AR15Sport.com has 1/12 ($239), and 1/9 ($189) A1 pencil barrels with the front sight post already installed.

Bernie, The Anderson Lower is just Fine it has the 17-4 stainless steel match grade Trigger and Hammer. I think you went with the Geissele or maybe not. I just bought one. They have ALL Triggers $50.00 to $70.00 dollars off right now. I'm going to buy another one just to have there selling out fast. Check Out there Website. You should get one Now for your next build.

We produce a 20" pencil barrel with a .625 gas block for Fulton Armory (they sell a retro upper option). The only thing that varies from the original is the chamber and twist rate (1-8). That means you will be able to run just about any load of choice instead of being restricted to the 55 gr. pills.
Barrel, 20 Contour, 1x8, Chrome Lined, Threaded, Match Quality, FA by Criterion

I went ahead and ordered that one from ARSPORT with everything ready to go, and a 1/9 twist. I also picked up a nice bolt carrier from AIM on sale. That just about finished everything for the upper. Now I just gotta decide what I wanna do for the lower. I'd like a NODAK but the idea of waiting for awhile isn't ideal. Lol.

I have had Nodak lowers in the past, and they are worth the money. In this case, though, since my upper is the almost black late "Colt grey" (almost black), the Anderson (without the integral forged in trigger guard) is a great match. It is also more of a charcoal color than black. As you can see from the daylight pictures (un-retouched) it is a great match.

When my upper comes in, I may just have to see if a modern lower will color match!
