Guns Review magazine, fantastic and much missed, today we have the rather poor "Gun Mart" that has reviews paid for by its advertising companies.....

Apparently the average wage in 1967 was around £18/week compared to (an alleged) weekly wage of £570/week now, so even taking that into account they were still a bargain.



I grew up on Warlord comic - some of the stories and phrases used would be considered as completely politically incorrect now.
Simpler times!

I agree Waco, I was an avid reader of Warlord and Battle Action as a kid.

It certainly gave me a head start in German with useful phrases like "achtung feuerspeiend"

For me it was "Victor" comic. I've still got a few of the Victor Annuals on my bookshelf. My son, who's 10, has no interest in them at all; he'd rather be playing games on his i-pad.

Saw an ad from The Shotgun News in 1967: Advertised 5 Enfields for $125.00. 1 No. 1Mk III, 1Number 1Mk V, 1 No 4 Mk 1, 1 No 5, and 1 Sniper with the chest and scope.

Me, too! I used to look forward to the arrival of my copy of the 'Victor' magazine every week. My parents thought that 'Look & Learn' was much more appropriate, but I know which publication left the more lasting mark!

After church on Sunday we got to stop at the news stand to pick up our weekly Look and Learn and buy an ice cream sandwich with our 25¢ weekly allowance. Sounds funny now, but learn we did. (brother and I) How many 10 year olds now have heard of the War of Jenkins' Ear?!
