    Finn M39 question

    Hey guys!
First post, Relatively new milsurp collector, but I definitely have 'the bug' now.. love shooting them, love the history... anyways -glad to be here!

Just looking for some advice on a potential purchase.

I have the opportunity to buy a Finn M39 up here in Canadaicon, the wood has obviously been refinished (a bit sloppily as you'll see), and the receiver was drilled for an unknown scope once upon a time.
Just curious as to whether you feel it is worth the $1200 Canadian ($920 usd) pricetag it holds.

Thanks for your time & expertise.

I'm not an expert, but sounds pretty high to me, at least for here in the US. I sold a very nice M39 about 1 year ago for $550, and it was one of the harder to find late date "no name" or "ghost" models. Here is a listing I saw earlier this year that sold for $485 including shipping: 1944 Finn M39

They are very nice shooting rifles by the way. Sort of wish I still had mine, but my eyes and iron sights don't get along anymore. Good luck finding one.

    Thanks for your reply!
Wow.. much nicer condition & price, I wouldnít hesitate for a second on that buy.
I have a taste for the Finn rifles now because I picked up an M91 earlier this year.
Iím just not sure if the higher pricing is just because of the Canadaicon factor.. couple months of searching now and this is the first M39 Iíve seen pop up anywhere north of the border.
For some perspective on our milsurp prices - I bought a Swissicon K31 up here for (what seems to be the going rate) - $680 usd.

Iím not opposed to shopping south of the border, but honestly have no clue about the logistics of actually getting up here after the sale.

Most of the ones I seen sell from private sellers in the past year or two here in the US have gone in the $5-600 range. Of course, you would pay more from a dealer.

Stock has numerous repairs (although nicely done) and looks to have been refinished. However, the D&T receiver really takes away any collector value so its just a shooter to me. That being said, I would think $400-450 would be about tops in my area. Just MHO....

Lukrative: Given the condition I would say that price is way too high. If you're patient you should be able to find a good one for $800-$1000 (Can). A lot of them showed up in the Canadianicon market a couple of years ago and they were immediately priced up in the near $1000 range even though you could get one a year or two earlier for much less when the supply was much lower. With the hype everyone decided they want one. In fact many of the ones recently brought in up here look like probable post-war rebuilds which doesn't detract from shootability but certainly reduces collector value. If you're not already, become a member of Canadian Gunnutz forum and watch the Equipment Exchange.

As said worth no where near that in Canadaicon. Price should be around 600$ or less for that since it is drilled and tapped which really hurts the value.

When you can buy a VG one for 800-1000$ as mentioned, I wouldn't buy that one.

I'd point and laugh at the clown selling this thing for that money.

I agree, the price is outrageous, you are wise to just walk away, the seller has an extremely unrealistic concept of that rifles value.Like someone says, wtch CGN and you'll find much better for the same dollars or less. The most I've paid for a M39 (all of which are excellent condition) was $1200Cdn for a SKY M39 with oiler sling, etc.
