Musket Indentification Help Please
I have a musket that was passed to me. I know nothing about it and I was wondering if anyone would be so kind in identifying the marking and who issued it and what Regiment it was issued. I believe it to be British
with the GR stamp.
I have attached some photographs.
Any help you can provide would be much appreciated.

Hi Doug
Thanks! I wanted to find out more about the markings on the trigger guard. Do they have any significance or do thy indicate which regiment the musket was assigned. Just really interested in the history, which regiment may have used it.

I would have guessed 11th Light Dragoons.

But they were armed with carbiines? What's the length of this piece as I can't tell from your pics?
Regards,
Doug

Hi Doug
I got it completely wrong I am trying to find out for a friend. Its a pistol! I just found out is a new pattern calvalry pistol 1807. Would that have been used by the 1th Light Dragoons.

Of course, my guess being a mounted until they would have used carbines probably in a saddlebag configuration and pistols carried on their belts.
The other number below it is probably a storage rack and/or owner identifier?

My guess also. Later to become the 11th Hussars of Light Brigade fame.
The captive ramrod always suggests cavalry or naval use.
Let me see...Malamute perhaps?
