    Lee Enfield Trainer

I saw (only in pics) this trainer.

It's an Indian rebuild No. 1 Mk III with a commercial BSA barrel. I think it is a commercial trainer.
What puzzles me is the chest. I have never seen a chest other than with Canadianicon trainer No. 7.

    What do you think?

    Thanks. Giancarlo

I'm no expert on transit chests but it looks made up to me. Maybe someone had a nice .22 SMLE & wanted to make up a chest to keep it in.......The Britishicon Army didn't need to stencil 'British Army' all over their own property. Likewise, in that era .22LR was usually referred to as .22RF in military parlance. I doubt also whether 'Trainer' would have appeared in any official nomenclature. The catches on the box do not look typical either.

I may well be wrong on this one, but my money is on it being put together by an individual who wanted to make it look (at least in his/her own mind) plausible.

    Yep, I agree.
The British Army worded stencil is comical and shouts fake straight away.
Just the thing for putting round holes in square heads.

Wrong hardware all together. Home made chest for sure
Many times you find Canadianicon No.7 chests used for everything including No.4(T) when they add on a couple of inches to the depth.

Those carrying straps wouldnt last five minutes. They could have at least used cutup slings, like everyone else does.
