Jungle Carbine with no 8 wood

Don't ask me why, it just is...maybe it would look ok with a top handguard installed.
Its listed for sale, at $500 plus, there's not much info from the owner.

I could add, 'If you go down in the woods today, you're in for a big surprise...' looks like the bears are going a hunting..

We had an old addage here that if you wanted to tame a #5 down for shooting, change the butt for a #4 buttstock. Then it shoots with less personal abuse. I suspect that's what happened here.

Only the butt is No8 isn't it? I thought the No8 had a wide forend like the ENVOY?

Yes the #8 had a fat front. This wood looks like sporterized #4 wood. I would have to see it closer from the top to tell for sure. It doesn't really matter anyway.

There's a guy on a local Colorado board that's selling a "No. 7 Jungle Carbine". Turns out it's a commercially made "copy" of a No. 5 Carbine, made from a No. 4, and rebarrelled for .308 Win./7.62 NATO, with a 12 round magazine. Doesn't look bad, $325.

The "No7's" I have seen advertised in the UK are No1 MkIII's of Ishapore origin, hence the 12 round magazine.
Do they have a flash eliminator like an L1A1?

I had one of those and still regret selling it, they're fun to shoot, decently accurate, interesting, the recoil is more like a stock enfield than a jungle carbine, and you can use ammo other than 303 which is getting costly.

I know the ones you mean Strangely. They look like people had parts they felt they had to use up. The "#7" on the link is neat though, wouldn't mind having it for fun.
