I looked it up and it seems to be closest to the French one, even the lions on the side. I saw examples asking near $500USD.

I have seen the lions on a Bavarian one also. I don't think this one is $500 worthy. Missing the liner and the front plate. More likely in the $100-$200 range which still isn't bad considering I paid a dollar for it.

The names: Weiss does appear to be one, the other looks like Firnbach with the little double dots over the I and the R, seems German to me also.

Won this at an auction. $11. Seemed a good deal. Modern obviously but probably several decades old. Native American tomahawk. Guy put a lot of effort into it, handle fully wrapped in rawhide. Don't know a lot about them other than they go for a lot more than $11. My dad has three real ones, just not with handles.

Should add auctions to the title as that's my only luck the last week. Always thought these were cool. It will actually fire. Not sure what caliber yet as I don't have it in hand yet 58 maybe. 12" wheels, not sure on barrel length but I think this one is 18"

Paint looks great but must have been stored in a humid environment. Obviously needs some TLC which it will soon get.

I believe this is a US Civil War mountain howitzer.

See, I almost got into a deck gun back in about 1985 or so. Another gun guy and I attended an auction and started bidding on it, decided against it as we'd be looking at trouble eventually. We'd have HAD to shoot it. It took a 1 pound ball as I remember...and we lived at a base out in the prairies. This would be the same...you gotta wring it out. Use down-rigger balls from a local fishing supply or cast from old plumbing lead.

LOL, I just proved him wrong. It's a little cannon but it is a cannon. Still not sure on the caliber, bigger than a 45 for sure, probably 58 as that's what most that look like this are. It is rifled but very weak twist. The rust is coming off but it's going to take a lot of work. Paint looks great. I was wondering how you fire them but they make miniature rope fuze. No rust in the bore except right at the end there's a little.

Nothing a bit of muriatic won't cure...and the fuse is available from any of the folks that cater to BP shooters. It's green and made for exactly this... I'll bet you can find a round ball mold for this.

Definitely made to be shot. They actually call that green stuff canon fuse. Used to get it in six foot rolls. We'd rub the end of it on a rock or concrete for quicker, more reliable ignition after it was cut to length. Useful for all sorts of nefarious purposes.

Black match is exceedingly easy to make, just not as water resistant as the green commercial stuff.
