I fired an L42A1 in an NRA long range match at 600 and 1000 yards many years ago at Fort Gordon, GA. I was tight using the P'07 leather sling American style in the prone position and the scope was cutting my eyebrow. I somehow managed to get through the 20 rounds of slowfire being the hard headed old paratrooper that I am but I was a bloody mess, (literally). My score wasn't too bad for a low marksman class shooter though and I sure learned the lesson about that 2" minimal eye relief. It was a hot September day too and I almost had a heat stroke to boot. I know that most spectators think a rifle match is about as exciting as watching grass grow but it's really hard work from the standpoint of the shooter!
