Help identifying holsters
I bought a bag of old holsters and two of them I could use the forums help in identifying. I pretty sure that the first one is a US Military .38 Revolver Holster.

The second one is a shoulder holster that I just can't peg. (UPDATE) This is a Greman Holster made by Deutsches Reichgebrauchmuster which is what the D.R.G.M. I'm not sure for what pistol though or what year, but it looks to be WWII Post-WWII because of the snap.

The first appears to be a US Type of cavalry holster, possibly artillery. The pivot is so it rides more comfortably on the leg while on a horse. It's not a 1911 as that is what I just purchased. WWII era due to date but used postwar due to blackened color. WWII would have been brown. Not sure who was still using horses that time frame. All speculation based on my researching my 1911 purchases.

I found one on a CMP
forum although it is a bit different in that the metal hooks are steel on the one in the CMP picture and the one I have seems to be bronze or something near bronze. The description is "Vintage Service MFG. Co. Military or Police Flap holster for S&W K frame revolvers with 4 inch barrels"

Seems to be missing a US stamp which may make it police but not sure if they used that type of belt hanger system. Brass was used up until WWII and slightly into WWII as they used stuff up. Steel became the norm after that.

I've not seen any of this swivel style with the US embossed on it.

Not that size or type no. My 45 holster has the embossed US on it. Most of them do. That's why this might not be military but I don't know why a police department would use military belts either.

This holster was not for the .45, this is a service 38 holster. A 45 would not fit in it.
